Alopecia UK is undertaking a project to think about how we can make the support we provide even better, for more of our community.

As part of this work, we are keen to hear from the alopecia community about their experiences and perspectives.

We’ve asked an independent consultant, Nicola Upton, to help us to listen to volunteers, people who we already support, and those who don’t currently engage with us but may benefit if they did.

Below is a message from Nicola about the project, and how you can get involved.

Hello,

I’m an independent consultant working with Alopecia UK to explore how we can provide even better support to our community, and I’d really welcome the chance to hear your views.

FOCUS GROUPS – in person and online

I’ll be running a small number of group discussions, both online and in person, to explore:

• your experiences and views about support available for people affected by alopecia across the UK
• the support provided by Alopecia UK, including what’s available on our website, through our support line, and the groups and events we deliver.
• what has helped you, and what hasn’t, and
• what you think a charity like Alopecia UK could offer in future.

The sessions will be friendly, confidential, and discussion-based. Nothing you share will be attributed to you. Focus groups will be 1.5 hours long.

The deadline for completing this form is Friday 13th March 2026.

We’re keen to have a diverse and representative group, so the form asks a few background questions. Places are limited, so expressing interest doesn’t guarantee a place — we’ll let everyone know by Friday the 18th of March 2026.

Participants will receive a £20 thank-you voucher, and travel costs will be covered for in-person sessions where needed.
