I'm running the Basingstoke Half Marathon to raise awareness for Alopecia UK 💙

I’ve had Alopecia since I was 21. For the first few years, I dealt with it alone—hiding it even from those closest to me. Then, ten years ago, I discovered Alopecia UK, and it changed everything.

I started volunteering with the charity, attending events at Alton Towers and supporting both children and adults with the same condition. It’s been life-changing. Meeting others and sharing our stories has brought me so much strength over the years.

I might not be the most confident person, and I still wear my wig most days, but I’ve come a long way. I now have the confidence to go for runs with just a hat on, and even visit spas or go swimming with a bare head—things I never thought I’d be able to do.

On October 5th, I’ll be running the Basingstoke Half Marathon—my biggest challenge yet! I’ve done a couple of 10Ks before, but never this distance. Training around two young children is no small feat, but I’m determined.

I’ll be running with no hair on—not just to keep cool (I’m a very red-faced runner!)—but to raise awareness and proudly show that this is what living with Alopecia looks like.

If you’re able to support me, any donation would mean the world. It will help keep me motivated through the summer and support the amazing work of Alopecia UK.

Thank you so much 💙 Hannah Lewis
