“In September 2023 I was diagnosed with alopecia areata and lost around 50% of my hair. I don’t know why I got alopecia, and I don’t know why my hair grew back. My brief (but ongoing) encounter with alopecia has made me aware of the strain it can cause, the interesting (ill-informed) reactions of others and the challenges of finding reliable and practical advice. In 2023 Alopecia UK was my main source of information and helped me understand what was happening to me.

I am delighted to join Alopecia UK’s Board of Trustees at a time when it is finalising its strategic priorities for the next 3 years. I have been impressed by the work of AUK, the tireless efforts of the talented staff team and the amazing group of Trustees and volunteers. I am excited about helping Sue and the  team deliver on these emerging priorities and support the alopecia community in the UK and beyond.”
