"For myself, these are lessons I learnt from having childhood alopecia that stood me in good stead for when it came back at 32 years old. Resilience that this condition won't beat me, when spots started appearing on my head I shaved all my hair off so I was in control. If you are happy in yourself go out with your head held high, f*** what anyone else thinks. Happiness starts when you learn not to give a f*** about anyone else's opinions."

Jake's portrait was part of photographer Isaac Qureshi's 'True Crowns', a photography exhibition in May 2025.
