Lisa "I don't go out in public bald very often. I'm not ashamed of how I look; it's part of my story. But if I go without a wig, my baldness suddenly becomes the whole story. That's why I'll cry if they ever make a film about a woman who looks like me and just gets to be regular. Not an alien. Or a villain. Or an oracle. Just a person with ordinary dreams and successes and failures. (Consider all the times you've seen a bald woman on the screen. I guarantee is she's not a cancer patient, she falls into one of the categories I've listed.) My name is Lisa. I lost my hair as a 5-year-old girl. It's a chapter of my story. But I've lived 40 chapters since then, and they haven't centred around my hair. (I should also add that I have NOT become an alien or a villain or some other-worldly oracle either!). I'm a regular woman - with a story that is worthy of consideration, not because I am bald but because I am me. Alopecia is a chapter; it is not the book."
