Celebrating another super September! Each September we encourage our community to get involved with Alopecia Awareness Month; 30 days dedicated to raising awareness of alopecia and raising funds for Alopecia UK. Our theme for September 2025 was 'Strength In Numbers'. Fundraising During September 2025, 40 amazing Charity Champions got involved in supporting Alopecia UK. Not only did they raise lots of awareness with their activities in Alopecia Awareness Month, they also managed to raise over £33,000 for Alopecia UK! We asked our Charity Champions to choose fundraising activities around our 'Strength in Numbers' theme and they didn't disappoint with the variety of activities. Running events, mountain climbs, coffee mornings, swimming challenges, walking challenges, Zumba, burlesque, pole dancing, star-jumping, sky-diving, raffles, craft-making, and a language challenge - you name it, they did it! We continue to be blown-away by the creativity and passion of adults and children in our community, and it is so greatly appreciated. Alopecia UK cannot continue the work it does without the fundraising support of those affected by alopecia. Special thanks to Linzi and Leah at Diamond Wig Bank North East for raising £1,350 this September, and to Pretty Little Wigs by Hollie for their generous donation to get us over our target before the month end. Awareness We were thrilled to announce that fundraising and awareness superstar 8-year-old Phoebe Brooke was the winner of our 2025 Hannah Dennis Alopecia Awareness Award. Phoebe (pictured below) was given her award at the end of her 2025 Charity Champion challenge. You can read more about her well-deserved win here. Nominations for our 2026 Hannah Dennis Alopecia Awareness Award will open in May 2026. Over on our social media, Alopecia UK put out nearly 400 posts from our Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts, reaching half a million people with our awareness posts, including our Alopecia A-Z posts. Thanks to everyone who shared our social media content during September, and contributed blog posts as we continued our 20 Stories for 20 Years. Big Weekend and Alopecia UK's 20th Anniversary There was no better way to round-off Alopecia Awareness Month 2025 than with our Big Weekend event in Birmingham. We brought together more than 270 people to create a really special weekend of talks, products & services, social opportunities, and fun! Read our in-depth summary of our 2025 Big Weekend here. And with September 2025 marking our 20th anniversary, we had cake - both real and virtual. The real cake appeared at our Saturday night social (pictured above with Alopecia UK founder Vicky Rees and our CEO Sue Schilling), and our virtual cake provided the opportunity for our community to leave their memories and thoughts about Alopecia UK. Our virtual cake remains open so if you would like to add a candle and leave your own message, you can do so here. A HUGE thank you to everyone who supported Alopecia UK this September. Whether you raised awareness, raised funds, donated, shared our social media content, attended our Big Weekend event, joined any of our other groups or events, or added a candle to our cake, we are so grateful to have your support. We are so lucky to have the BEST community that always steps up when we need them to. Thank you x Manage Cookie Preferences
