This Alopecia Awareness Month, we'd love your help to raise awareness of alopecia by sharing real voices from our community.

The best way to help others understand alopecia is by hearing directly from the people who live with it every day. Whether you've had alopecia for years, are newly diagnosed, are a parent, partner or family member, or support someone with alopecia, your experience could make a real difference.

Taking part is quick and easy. You can either:

Option 1: Send us a short video

Record a video on your phone answering one of the suggested questions below.

Your video should be:

  • No longer than 60 seconds

  • Recorded in portrait (selfie) orientation

  • Filmed somewhere with good lighting and as little background noise as possible

Please don't read out the question at the start of your video. Instead, simply launch straight into your answer. This makes it much easier for us to edit clips together into engaging awareness videos e.g.I wish more people understood...” or “I think the biggest misconception about alopecia is...” etc

Option 2: Send a written soundbite with an accompanying photo

If you'd rather not be on camera, we'd still love to hear from you.

Simply send us:

  • A short written response (around 50–150 words)

  • A portrait (vertical) photo of yourself to accompany it

We'll use these across our social media and awareness campaign throughout the month.

Suggested questions

You only need to answer one question. If you would like to record more than one question, please record them as separate clips.

Here are some ideas:

  • What do you wish more people knew about alopecia?

  • What's the biggest misconception about alopecia?

  • What are some of the ways that alopecia has changed your life?

  • What has helped you most on your alopecia journey?

  • What's one thing you'd say to someone who's just been diagnosed?

  • What's something kind that someone has said or done that made a difference?

  • How can friends, family or colleagues better support someone with alopecia?

  • What gives you confidence?

  • What would you like the public to understand about living with alopecia?

  • What's one message you'd like to share this Alopecia Awareness Month?

  • In what ways has Alopecia UK supported you in your alopecia journey?

Every story matters

We're keen to feature people of all ages, types of alopecia, backgrounds, and experiences. Alopecia affects people from every community, and it's so important that others can see people who look like them represented in our campaign. If you have a type of alopecia that you feel is under-represented, this is your chance to help change that.

Whether you're a child, teenager, or adult, whether you've had alopecia for months or decades, and whatever your background, we'd love to hear from you.

Where to send our content

Please send your videos and/or words and photos

Thank you

By sharing your story, you'll be helping to educate the public, challenge misconceptions and remind others affected by alopecia that they're not alone. We cannot guarantee we will be able to use every piece of content that is sent to us but we will try our best to use as much as possible.

Thank you for helping us make this Alopecia Awareness Month our most impactful yet.
