I am Lyndsey I have had alopecia now over 10 years and last year decided to set up a support group in Newcastle. I feel talking to others with the same condition, can really help with this journey. The group runs once a month in Newcastle City Centre on a Friday afternoon. A very friendly group of both men and ladies of all ages. Get in touch with me if you would like more details.

*This support group is just for those with Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia, known as CCCA* For those women who have this condition, a CCCA-specific support group exists in the UK, in partnership with the Scarring Alopecia Foundation (SAF), and is the first international group to exist outside of the US. Support groups are a great opportunity to connect within the scarring alopecia community allowing patients to express themselves in the safety of a group that understands and where they can share ideas and tips with each other. It will be a unique and inspirational opportunity to network with other patients and to understand more about the condition. The support group meets 4 times a year. Meeting dates can be found here.

Pattern Hair Loss

Pattern hair loss is the most common type of hair loss. It occurs in both men and women and becomes more common with increasing age. Around 50% of men over 50 and 50% of women over 65 are affected, though it can also start in younger adults and occasionally in early teen years.
