Hi, I’m Hollie - founder of Pretty Little Wigs by Hollie, and I’m so excited (and a little emotional!) to be attending this year’s Alopecia UK Big Weekend (26th-28th September 2025 in Birmingham) as an exhibitor.

This is a huge moment for us - not just as a business, but as a team who truly cares about the hair loss community and the people in it. Whether this is your first time looking at wigs or you’ve worn them for years, we are here to make your alternative hair wearing journey that little bit smoother.

Why I Started Pretty Little Wigs

Pretty Little Wigs began with one simple goal: to help people feel like themselves again.

I began life in the hair world as a hairdresser and hair extensions technician. I have specialised in hair extensions for 13 years and i have always loved giving hair. My tag line has always been - i was put on this earth to make hair long, and long only! I actually cried performing my first short haircut in college because i really didn’t understand short hair. When lockdown hit, rather than dropping the tools i turned my hand to wig making. I downloaded multiple training courses and fell head over heals in love. Hair extensions were amazing for many, but not possible for some. I finally had an option for those visiting me who needed help higher up than extensions could go. I explored both toppers and wigs and instantly decided this was going to be added to my services.

I began by custom making my wigs. Customers reached out with an image of their “dream” hair and i got to work replicating that as best as possible. Although mostly amazing, that did come with some draw backs. Even if the colour and construction was an absolute slay, occasionally i would hit a situation where the customer decided it was’nt for them. They had invested a lot of money, and I had invested a lot of time. And if it is custom made for the client that is where it got hard. There was a flaw in the system and i knew it could be better.

I dreamed so big that i wanted a store where clients could visit, try on endless colours, lengths and sizes so they truly got a feel for what they were buying. Choice should be normal, but in the human hair wig world it hasn’t been common. I grew my stock and re invested sale on sale, 50 in store, 100 in store, 150 in store - fast forward to today and we are very proud to say we have over 250 human hair wigs and toppers ready to take home or buy online to receive next day!

PLWBH gives me a level of fulfilment i never thought possible. Being a wig matchmaker really is such a special privilege. We have worked with so many incredible women over the years who’ve lost their hair for different reasons - alopecia, medical treatment, hormonal changes, or just life doing its thing. And what I’ve seen time and time again is that the right wig can be life-changing - not just in how someone looks, but in how they feel.

That’s why I created a safe space that’s friendly, honest, and full of heart. A place where you can explore wigs without pressure or judgement  – just real advice, beautiful options, and support from a team who gets it.

Why This Event Matters

The Alopecia UK Big Weekend is more than just a marketplace or information fair – it’s a place of community and connection. It’s where people come to feel understood, to share their journeys, and to find support they maybe didn’t know was out there. We can’t wait to meet the attendees, and hopefully see some of our existing customers for a catch up too!

I feel incredibly honoured to be part of that space – not just to share my wigs, but to offer kindness, encouragement, and a listening ear.

👋 Come Say Hello!

If you’re attending, we would love to meet you – even if it’s just for a chat. No pressure to buy anything, no expectations. Just pop by, have a look, and ask all the questions you like.
