Following a research study by Dr Fabio Zucchelli to explore which aspects of psychological support are important to people with alopecia areata (AA), a set of recommendations was developed for professionals and peer supporters that people with AA come into contact with.

Our study page includes tailored recommendations for medical professionals, mental health professionals, trained peer supporters, and trichologists. For each, there is a PowerPoint presentation slide deck and 2-page PDF summary.

Find full details about the psychological support research on our study page here.

If you are living well with alopecia, perhaps you are already providing peer support to others. You may be considering getting more involved with our peer support groups. The recommendations for peer supporters will help you to learn how best to support people affected by alopecia.
